Maras
Maras is a small town located 40 km (24.9 mi) from Cusco on the road from Cusco to Urubamba . The natural attractions of Maras , in addition to its colonial church, are the "trabajos de sal" which consists of a large number of small saltwater pools. Every three days, during the dry season, workers fill the pools with saltwater that comes from natural springs at the top of the Maras complex and when the waters evaporates from the pool the salt is left for collection.
Moray
Is located 7 km (4.3 mi) from Maras and is accessible via a dirt road. Moray is famous for its amphitheatre-type ruins formed by circular terraces. One hypothesis says that Moray was an inkan biological experimental station for growing crops at different altitudes and a center for domestication and hybridization of wild plant species. Indeed, the terraces are built over support walls filled with cultivable soil and complex irrigation system.
